The Way
“The Way” is a specific and determinedly deliberate methodology. Our methodology is made up of 5 steps which we will go over in more detail below. The 5 steps are: 1. Discovery, 2. Strategic Plan (Pre-Production), 3. Execute (Shoot), 4. Edit (Post-Production), 5. Deliver.
Step 1 - Discovery
Discovery is done by either phone call, meeting in person or zoom call. It is during this time that we discuss as much as possible in regards to your content needs, everything from budget to timeline. Some questions we would like to know: Are you looking for photos or video? Or both? What are your plans for the content/where will it live? Do you have any reference materials you can share with us? What is your budget? How much budget do we have to put towards things like props, location, talent (actors/models), styling, and the overall production? What is the ideal timeline to have the content complete by? How many photos? What length of video? What is the purpose of the content? These are some of the things we will need to know and look forward discussing with you.
Step 2 - Strategic Plan (Pre-Production)
Once we have completed Step 1, we can move onto Step 2 - Strategic Plan. Based on things such as budget, plans for the content, purpose of the content etc we create a detailed shot list that describes what is needed for every still image or video scene. What props/materials are needed? Is there a specific colour palette? Are models/actors required? What about a hair stylist? Make up artist? Set stylist? What are the locations? Now let’s scout the locations. What amount of crew and equipment will be needed? Even details such as background music and video length are decided on during this stage. In some cases a test shoot is require to save time problem solving on shoot day. We take all of these variables and organize them into a schedule for Step 3 - Execute.
Step 3 - Execute (Shoot)
By the time the shoot day(s) have arrived we are completely ready. We have spent a lot of time planning, arranging, organizing, thinking, testing, and talking. We execute according to plan, nothing should come as a surprise as we have carefully crafted a shot list, have planned for and know exactly what we need to do.
It usually takes about 30 minutes to unload equipment at location and it takes on average 1 hour to set up/light/stage a scene.
Step 4 - Edit (Post-Production)
Editing is the final part of the production process. It’s during this time everything is assembled, colours are corrected & perfected, sound effects and voiceover are added, skin is retouched (photo), clips are cut to match the beat of music and so on.
Step 5 - Deliver
The final step in our process is Deliver. Once the final edits have been approved we recommend digital delivery of files via either Google Drive, WeTransfer, and/or External Hard Drive.
